Life Lessons from the Dance Floor

inspirational musings from a dancing scientist

About

Welcome! I’m Valerie — a writer and retired scientist with a passion for dancing, especially ballroom dancing. I started this blog, Life Lessons from the Dance Floor, just for fun in 2017 (originally named Life Lessons from the Ballroom) to share inspirational takeaways and life analogies from my competitive pro(fessional)-am(ateur) ballroom dancing experiences. After the pandemic, I resurrected it to share my joy from ballroom dancing plus other dance forms including tap and swing.

Life Lessons from the Dance Floor is for everyone who appreciates dancing as a hobby, art form, or life coping tool. I hope you find the posts entertaining and thought-provoking. They explore how dancing builds confidence and joy (e.g., through embracing mistakes, connection and partnership, and living in the moment); and also how this art form serves as a creative outlet and mirror for everyday life.
